The Kappa Alpha Order, Lambda Chapter is one of the oldest fraternities at the University of Virginia, having been established on November 19, 1873. We have resided at our current address of 600 Rugby Road since our original house burned down in the 1950s. The active brothers of the Order hail from Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Canada.
Lambda Chapter prides itself on its brotherhood, but we also strive for excellence in academics, athletics, community service, and CIO involvement. Many of the brothers actively participate in intramurals and philanthropic events benefiting the Charlottesville community and other campus organizations. Lambda Chapter is heavily engaged around Grounds and has brothers involved in: Virginia Men's Rowing, Virginia Polo, Virginia Men's Basketball Team, Virginia Water Polo, Virginia Alpine Ski & Snowboard Team, Virginia Trap & Skeet Team, Club Golf, Ducks Unlimited, Interfraternity Council, Trigon Engineering Society, Alternative Investment Fund, McIntire Investment Institute, Global Markets Group, Virginia Consulting Group, Colonnade Capital Partners, along with countless other organizations. The brothers take up a variety of majors across Grounds in the College, McIntire, Batten, and the Engineering School.
The alumni of 600 Rugby consistently excel in their post-grad pursuits, notably in finance, consulting, law, politics, private equity, real estate, and more recently - the startup space. KA has a strong alumni network that stay connected to the House. Alumni are invited to join our LinkedIn Group and donate to the House Fund, titled Kappa Alpha Fraternity, here.
